Well, my birthday is comming up and I am trying to decide if I should do a cake for myself or not. If I do I think it should be something that is different than I have done in the past and a little stretching in difficulty. I was thinking of just doing some simple coffee cupcakes cuz they're yummy but now that I think on it more (even as i'm typing)  I should use it as a good excuse to practise. Yep, it's settled, I am going to make an elaborate cake for myself. So stay tuned for pictures!

On a side note, I am fairly busy making cakes for people. It is very exciting that people want to have me make their cakes for them!

First time with fondant

I was asked to make a 9x13 cake with a crown on it. I love it when I get to be creative and hopefully exceed peoples expectations. I wanted the cake to look like a pillow with two crowns on it. But in order to make it look like a pillow it needed to be smooth. So I decided to give fondant a try. It took longer than expected trying to get the consistency right but in the end I liked it and think i'll try making it again. The royal icing crowns were my favorite part, I was really nervous about them breaking but they came off the form with only a little breakage. I deliver it tomorrow so we'll see the reaction then!

Catering to the Public

Now that the Christmas holidays are over and I am sick of making squares, candy and cookies, I think I might be getting in the mood to start experimenting again. I received a few new pans and tools for Christmas and can't wait to try everything out!
So before I start baking up a storm, i'd like you to answer a question for me. What is or has been your favorite cake experience? Do you even like cake, and if not, what sort of dessert do you like?

Just the beggining!

Hi! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Lisa. I love to decorate cakes. I have been interested in it since I was a little girl who couldn't wait for the cake to cool before icing it! In the past few years I have taken courses and done a TON of experimenting with recipes and feel that i'm finally ready to start offering my services to the public. I am excited about what I can offer because my cakes taste good! I named this business, "Piece of Cake", because I am willing to try whatever you can throw at me! I can do anything from simple cupcakes, to carved 3D cakes. I also have a large collection of formed cake pans that include some hard to find ones like, Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake.
